  • 4 Black Tea Bags
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 1-2 Tbsp Sugar or Honey
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Cardamom
  • 1/8 Tsp Ground Cloves
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 - inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced


  1. Simmer the ginger, sweetener, vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and water in a small saucepan for 5 minutes. 
  2. Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the liquid to remove any of the large spices and add the milk. Add more sweetener if desired.
  4. Store leftover chai in the fridge for up to 5 days.
