Green Tea Health Benefits

Green tea, we all hear the hype and maybe you’ve tried green tea a few times but you haven’t fully embraced all that this tea type has to offer quite yet. We want to show you that green tea is both delicious, as well as a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle because there are heaps of green tea health benefits packed into a serving of tea.

So what is green tea anyway? Camellia Sinensis is the plant that all tea leaves are derived from. Green tea leaves, however are the green leaf tips of the tea plant that get dried and aren’t cut or torn. When the leaves are left in their whole form they don’t change their color or start fermenting. Green tea leaves have heaps of antioxidants that wouldn’t be around if they were fermented. This tea contains only a little bit of caffeine and is great for relaxing your body instead of stimulating it.

Green tea also has antioxidants like EGCG that can help speed your metabolism up, break down fat and increase the energy that your body uses.

There are so many green tea health benefits associated with green tea when included in your diet. Something you will notice if you drink green tea is the  energy boost you get when you drink it. A cup of green tea has less caffeine than a cup of coffee but it will give you that wee kick you need to get through your day.

Other benefits that come from drinking green tea can be linked to helping your skin with reduced redness, or swelling, or help unclog pores and lessen bacterial growth, helping treat skin’s acne issues.

Green tea can aid in maintaining a youthful look because it has vitamins in it like B2,  E, and C+, these all help support softer skin and can leave you with less puffy eyes or those pesky dark circles underneath.

Now that you know some of the many green tea health benefits that are associated with drinking green tea let us tell you about our unique Oteas green tea blends.

OOLONG & GINGER:
Oolong tea is made by rolling the tea leaves and then twisting and curling them into tight balls or thin strands. When the tea is rolled it alters the appearance, smell and color of the tea leaves. Oolong teas taste can be light, full bodied, floral, or grassy. All of this depends on how the leaves are rolled or twisted at the start of the process.

Oteas Ginger Oolong Tea has a fruity flavor and can help relax you. It is a great blend to drink when you start to get flu-like symptoms, because it can help boost your immune system.

GREEN TEA WITH JASMINE:

Our Green Tea with Jasmine blend is smooth on the tongue and has a subtle sweetness to it. It is made with green tea leaves and fresh jasmine flowers. Classically, green tea with jasmine is made with layers of green tea and jasmine blossoms are added, removing and replacing the flowers until the taste and smell has become embedded in the tea. Most of the health benefits are from the tea not necessarily the jasmine. Oteas’ Green Tea with Jasmine is smooth on the pallet, slightly sweet, and fragrant.

GREEN TEA WITH PEPPERMINT:
Next we have our Organic Green Tea with Peppermint. This blend has a refreshing taste of green tea mixed with peppermint and it will help increase your antioxidant intake for the day. It’s hearty flavor can help with digestion and is great to drink straight after eating a meal and it smells tasty too!

The menthol in the peppermint can be a muscle relaxant as well as a relaxant for mental health. It can also help you sleep and loose weight, improve digestion and boost your immune system.

GREEN TEA:
Our Oteas Green Tea is a blend that is packed with antioxidants and has a slight citrusy undertone, making it a distinct and nutritious blend. As mentioned above like the other green tea blends that we offer, studies show that drinking green tea can be a benefit to skin health, help with weight loss, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Green tea is made from unoxidized leaves and is one of the types of teas that is processed the least, making it have the most antioxidants. Our green tea comes in a 15 count box or as a loose leaf tea.

Some of the other loose leaf green teas that Oteas offers are:

Organic Orange and Lemon Green Rooibos Tea: This blend is loaded with antioxidants and ingredients to help you sleep, it may improve your digestion, and it tastes good!!

Japan Genmaicha Tea: Full of antioxidant-rich green tea with toasted rice that brings this amazing blend together to give the tea a nutty flavor. We as staff may or may not refer to this tea as ‘the popcorn tea’ because of the tiny kernels of popped corn found in the blend.

Organic Green Tea Rooibos and Pineapple:
This blend is loaded with antioxidants and is a mix of organic green rooibos, pineapple, sea buckthorn, as well as other organic berries, fruits, and flowers making it a delicious blend to enjoy during the day or in the evenings.
